One day. Countless projects. Endless opportunities to make a difference.
Mark your calendars for Saturday, May 15, 2027. Rotary clubs across District 5470 are invited to join clubs around the world for the EPIC Day of Service, a worldwide initiative bringing Rotarians, friends, families and community volunteers together to make a meaningful difference.
The idea is simple: Imagine the impact when Rotary clubs everywhere roll up their sleeves on the same day, addressing needs in their own communities while participating in something much bigger.
Whether your club has 15 members or 150, whether your community is large or small, there's a place for everyone in this effort. And the best part? You don't have to reinvent the wheel. Your club can organize a new project or turn an existing service activity into an EPIC Day of Service project.
Need Inspiration? There's a Project for Everyone!
The EPIC Day of Service website features hundreds of examples of projects organized by Rotary clubs. Looking through the previous projects offers plenty of ideas that District 5470 clubs could bring to their own communities.
Protecting Our Environment: Organize a highway or river cleanup, plant trees, establish a community garden, improve park trails or clean up public spaces. Previous EPIC projects have included highway cleanups, river restoration efforts and community garden improvements.
Helping Families and Neighbors: Coordinate a food drive, assemble snack bags for people experiencing food insecurity, collect clothing or household necessities, or partner with a local food bank or nonprofit. Projects can be as simple as gathering donations or as ambitious as organizing a communitywide collection event.
Supporting Children and Youth: Host a bicycle safety fair, improve a school playground, prepare educational supplies, organize activities for children or work with a local youth organization to address an unmet need.
Honoring Veterans and Seniors: Spruce up a veterans memorial or community center, organize a service project benefiting older residents, or partner with a local organization supporting veterans and military families.
Improving Community Spaces: Refresh a neighborhood park, repair benches, improve landscaping, paint facilities or volunteer at a local nonprofit. Sometimes a few hours of teamwork can transform a space used by hundreds of people.
Creative Projects and Community Partnerships: Organize an electronics recycling event, collaborate with firefighters on a community service project, support a charity walk or partner with another Rotary club on something bigger than either club could accomplish alone.
These aren't just hypothetical suggestions. They're inspired by actual projects featured on the EPIC Day of Service website.

More Than a Day of Service
The EPIC Day of Service also offers clubs an opportunity to introduce Rotary to people who share our passion for helping others.
Invite neighbors, coworkers, friends, families, Interactors, Rotaractors and local organizations to work alongside your club. When community members experience Rotary in action, they see firsthand what People of Action can accomplish together.
It's also an opportunity to strengthen partnerships with nonprofits, reengage members, build friendships and share Rotary's story throughout District 5470.
Participating clubs can explore optional fundraising opportunities, including donations, business sponsorships and individual fundraising campaigns.

Clubs can organize their own projects, collaborate with neighboring clubs or invite community organizations to participate. If May 15 creates a scheduling conflict, the EPIC organizers also allow clubs to schedule projects on another date in May while remaining part of the initiative.
Whether your club plants 100 trees, collects 1,000 pounds of food, cleans a neighborhood park or helps one family in need, every act of service matters.
Let's make May 15, 2027, an EPIC demonstration of Rotary's commitment to Service Above Self!
