Hello District 5470 Rotarians,
My name is Nick Adams, and I am honored to serve as your District Membership Chair for the 2026-27 Rotary year.
I joined Rotary because of the opportunity to make a difference in my community while building friendships with people who share a commitment to service. Over the years, Rotary has become much more than a weekly meeting. It has provided opportunities for personal growth, leadership development, and meaningful connections across our district and around the world.
As we begin a new Rotary year under the theme Create Lasting Impact, I believe membership is one of the most important ways we can ensure Rotary continues to thrive for generations to come. Every new member brings fresh ideas, new energy, and additional capacity to serve our communities.
Membership is about more than growth. It is about creating welcoming club experiences, engaging members in meaningful service, developing future leaders, and ensuring that every Rotarian feels valued and connected.
Today, District 5470 is home to 51 Rotary clubs, 1 Rotaract club, and 1,790 dedicated members. As we close out the current Rotary year, we are just 15 members shy of our goal to break even in membership. That challenge highlights the importance of both attracting new members and retaining the dedicated Rotarians who already call our district home.
Looking ahead, our district has set an ambitious goal of reaching 2,000 members by the end of the 2027-28 Rotary year. Achieving that goal will require us to strengthen existing clubs, improve member engagement and retention, explore new club models where appropriate, and continue sharing the value and impact of Rotary within our communities.
Clubs now receive Rotary International membership leads directly. These individuals have already expressed an interest in Rotary, and timely follow-up is essential. A personal invitation and meaningful connection can often be the first step toward welcoming a new Rotarian into our organization.
If your club would like assistance with membership planning, club refresh discussions, companion clubs, satellite clubs, or new club development opportunities, I am available to help. We also have the support of the North American Club Creation Team, which provides resources and expertise to help clubs explore innovative approaches to growth and engagement.
I encourage every Rotarian to consider one simple question this year: Who could benefit from Rotary?
If each of us invites just one person to learn more about Rotary, we can create opportunities for new friendships, new service projects, and greater impact throughout our communities.
