District Grants
District 5470 Grants Chair – Sheree Fukai

The Rotary Foundation helps Rotary members to advance world understanding, goodwill, and peace by improving health, providing quality education, improving the environment, and alleviating poverty. Together, we see a world where people unite and take action to create lasting change — across the globe, in our communities, and in ourselves.

What are District Grants?

District grants fund smaller, short-term activities that can address needs in both local and worldwide communities.

  • District Grants are funded as a block grant.
  • Districts must be qualified to administer district grants.
  • District Grant Committees choose which activities to fund.

District Grants:

  • Must support the MISSION of The Rotary Foundation
  • Require no minimum budget, as opposed to Global Grants
  • Provide short-term impact - can be local or international
    (International Grants may be subject to additional scrutiny for sustainability.)
  • Can support scholarships for any level of study locally or internationally - this will be a committee decision.
  • Requires active Rotarian involvement in delivering the grant.
  • Must adhere to grant terms and conditions (MOU).
  • Each Club is financially responsible for the project.
  • All expenses must be documented or funds may have to be returned.

Eligibility:

Rotary District 5470 requires clubs to participate in giving to the Annual Fund of the Rotary Foundation to be eligible for District Grants.

  • Total giving per club must reach the amount of $25/year/member, with 15% of the members participating in the contributions.
    (Example: if a club has 20 members, the membership will need to give $500, and that amount will need a minimum of 3 members providing the funds.)

Important Details:

  • Grants will be accepted throughout the Rotary year.
  • The Committee and RI must approve each grant.
  • No matching funds for expenses incurred before RI approval of the grant. Once approved, you can start.

  • Applications must be submitted as editable files (Word docs).
  • Refer to the District website each year for current grant guidelines and available funds.

  • $475 Duck Food Dispensers in a park
  • $3,000 Literacy Lab Materials
  • $10,000 Colorado Canyons Educational Program
  • $10,000 Trees for School Grounds (landscaping)
  • $3,000 Hospital NICU Isolette
  • $3,600 Desks for School in Peru
  • $10,000 Ronald McDonald House Playground
  • $6,000 Professional Copier for Family Center
These grant amounts represent the total contributions from The Clubs, District 5470, and additional contributors combined.
