Friday, October 9 • The Sebastian, Vail • Rotary Breakfast begins at 8 a.m.
Rotarians from across the region are invited to gather in Vail on Friday, October 9, for Ripple Effect: A Regional Rotary Meetup, a special breakfast opening the second day of the Ethical Leadership Forum at The Sebastian in Vail.
Hosted and sponsored by the Vail Edwards Rotary Club, the gathering offers Rotarians an opportunity to connect across club lines, share stories of service and hear firsthand how Rotary partnerships are creating impact far beyond Colorado.
An important registration note: The complimentary Rotary breakfast is a benefit for members of the Vail Edwards Rotary Club. Rotarians from other clubs are warmly encouraged to attend, but must purchase a ticket through the Ethical Leadership Forum registration site.
Service that ripples across the world
The Rotary breakfast, scheduled from 8 to 9:15 a.m., will highlight service projects reaching communities both in the United States and internationally.
Christina Lehew of Common Ground Relief will share the organization’s grassroots work in New Orleans. Common Ground Relief is a nonprofit partner of Shoulder-to-Shoulder.
Sonam Sherpa, of The Small World, a long-time Shoulder-to-Shoulder NGO partner from Nepal, will be present to provide an update on their response to the tragedy in their country.
Rotarians will also hear from Bob Bandoni with Shoulder-to-Shoulder. Bandoni will provide an update on an ongoing water project supported by Rotary.
More than a breakfast, the gathering is designed to strengthen connections among Rotarians throughout the region and demonstrate how service begun by one club or partnership can create a much wider ripple of impact.
Stay for the Ethical Leadership Forum
The Rotary gathering launches a full day devoted to Ethical Leadership in Health, bringing together leaders from healthcare, business, education, nonprofit organizations, Rotary and the wider community.
Following the Rotary breakfast, the Forum continues with Employee Health as a Community Investment from 9:30 to 11 a.m. Produced in partnership with Vail Valley Works, the session will explore what it means for businesses to invest in the health of their employees and communities.
From 11:15 a.m. to 1:30 p.m., participants will come together for the keynote lunch session, Health Care as a Moral Ecosystem.
The conversation will center on a challenging question:
If access to healthcare is a responsibility we share, what does ethical leadership ask of each of us?
A panel of professionals will examine that question, followed by a Jeffersonian-style lunch discussion and a question-and-answer session with panelists and attendees.
A two-day exploration of ethical leadership
The Ethical Leadership Forum begins Thursday, October 8, with Cultivating Ethical Leadership, programming designed especially for educators and nonprofit leaders.
Thursday’s sessions will explore how young people develop a sense of responsibility and purpose and learn to act with increasing autonomy. Workshops, school examples and shared discussion will examine ways educators and nonprofit leaders can help young people carry ethical leadership into their schools, communities and lives.
Friday shifts the conversation toward health and the shared responsibilities of communities, institutions and individuals.
Registration is required
Rotarians throughout the region are encouraged to join the October 9 gathering, whether they come primarily for Rotary fellowship or choose to participate in the full Ethical Leadership Forum.
Vail Edwards Rotary members: Due to the clubs sponsorship, follow the Rotary registration path and select the Vail Edwards Rotary ticket option for the complimentary breakfast.
